Kristin Swing-Picco, Director of Dancation Studio, fell in love with the art of dance at the age of 7, and has made sharing this art with others the focus of her life! Growing up in Old Bridge, she trained in ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, tap, musical theatre, and hip hop at the intensive level, and attended the secondary school arts program at Middlesex County High School of the Arts. Kristin furthered her education by studying at Broadway Dance Centre, Peridance, and Alvin Ailey Dance Company. Upon graduation, she furthered her studies at Towson University where she studied ballet, modern, anatomy and physiology for dancers, music for dancers, dance history, choreography and more. Kristin was awarded her degree with honors in business administration which in addition to her extensive dance training, has given her a complete understand of the dance studio business enabling her to make Dancation a success for her clients!
In 2011 Kristin took over ownership of Dancation Studio, with over 7 years of experience in teaching and choreographing. Since Kristin's ownership, her students have gone on to do great things in the dance field: perform with Quinnipiac University’s dance team, attend Temple University as a dance major, become models for top costume companies, win title awards and all-around soloist awards, and awarded scholarships for dance intensives on the East and West coasts and to study at Broadway Dance Center! Kristin has also been recognized for her creative, age-appropriate choreography, and for her ability to prepare her students for their long-term plans and aspirations. Her choreography has won many prestigious awards such as Ultimate Crowd Pleaser and Entertaining Choreography. While her students have been awarded many accolades, Miss Kristin has always said - “the smiles on the faces of her students and their families are the best reward!”
Kristin's goal has always been to run a studio where kids feel like part of the family, and free to explore their abilities & grow their love for dance in a safe, nurturing environment. She shows her students the importance of giving back to their community by providing many outreach and community performing opportunities each year. She also believes in continuing to study both the artistic and education of dance, to keep her school current, by attending workshops and seminars such as The Fundamentals of Ballet Technique: Teacher Workshop with Finis Jhung (2011), Business Owner Intensive at DanceLife Retreat Center (2014), Studio Owner University® presented by More Than Just Great Dancing® (2014, 2020), Member Rally presented by More Than Just Great Dancing® (2020), The DanceLife Teacher Conference (2019 & 2020) and Dance Teacher Summit (2014, 2016, 2018 & 2019).
